Dr. Md. Ekramul Hoque is a highly accomplished individual with a career spanning approximately 40 years, characterized by significant contributions in education, research, and administrative roles in both public and private universities. His career journey encompasses diverse roles, including teaching, research supervision, and leadership in academia. He embarked on his teaching journey as a Lecturer in the Department of Management at Islamic University, Gazipur, Bangladesh. Over the years, he ascended the academic ladder, holding positions as an Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and ultimately a Professor of Management in the Department of Management at Islamic University, where he dedicated his expertise till, he joined Bangladesh Open University, as a Professor of Management at the School of Business on 29 November 2002. He devoted his skills and knowledge in the promotion and development of open and distance learning in Bangladesh Open University till January 2023. His academic journey shows his long-standing commitment to education. His academic background includes a Ph.D. in Management where he conducted research on motivation and performance of workers in textile industries. He also holds a Master's in Commerce from Dhaka University, further underlining his academic prowess. In addition to his teaching roles, Dr. Hoque took on various pivotal administrative responsibilities. Notable roles include his tenure as Dean of the School of Business at Bangladesh Open University and his involvement with the University Grants Commission in Bangladesh. He also served as Chairman of the Department of Management and Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration at Islamic University, Kushtia. His involvement in these administrative capacities highlights his leadership in academic institutions. He has left a significant mark in the field of research. He supervised numerous Ph.D. and M.Phil. researchers, contributing to the academic growth of these scholars. His extensive list of research articles published in national and international journals covers diverse topics, including work motivation, industrial relations, absenteeism, and employee performance. His work showcases his dedication to advancing the understanding of these crucial aspects of the workforce.
Dr. Hoque continuously pursued professional development opportunities through workshops, training programs, and foreign visits. These experiences have enriched his knowledge and skills, enabling him to contribute effectively to the educational and management sectors. His international travels took him to various countries for academic purposes, including meetings, sabbaticals, and conferences. These experiences broadened his horizons and contributed to his global perspective. His career represents a rich tapestry of teaching, research, and administrative roles in the academic sphere. His dedication to education, commitment to advancing knowledge, and leadership in academic institutions have left an indelible mark on the field of management and education.
